- Fight against estate tax [Editorial note: the Republican document uses the term "death tax" which I find to be emotionally charged, I thus substituted the more traditional and less charged term "estate tax".]
- Repeal the Alternative Minimum Tax
- Tax credits for health care and medical expenses
- Major reduction in corporate tax rate
- Remove limits on tax-free savings accounts
- Option for taxpayers to file under current plan or simplified two-tier flat tax plan
Small business
- Open foreign markets to American products
- Base regulation on "sound science"
- Legal reform against frivolous lawsuits
Technology/Innovation
- Make R&D tax credit permanent
- Return to the moon as a step to send humans to Mars
Workforce and labor unions
- More flexible work schedules "if employers and employees not negatively affected"
- Utilize H1-B program to recruit science and technology leaders from abroad
- Individual workers direct portion of unemployment insurance to buffer account used for retraining or relocation
- Enforce laws requirning transparency and financial reporting in labor unions
- Oppose "card check" legislation
Homeownership
- Timely and targeted aid to people hurt in mortage crisis
- Energetic investigation and prosecution in mortage industry
- Do not support government bailout of private institutions
- "We believe in the free market as the best tool to sustained prosperity and opportunity for all"
Civil justice reform
- Plaintiffs should be protected against abuse by their attorneys
- Attorney-client privilege should be defended
Agriculture
- Establish Farm Savings Accounts to manage risks from world markets and natural disasters
- Fight against the estate tax
- No expansion of Clean Water Act to regulate farm water
- Greater investment in conservation incentive programs
- End mandates for ethanol
